Window Cleaning

window cleaning

Steps 1-4

1. Gather all necessary materials: water, window cleaning solution, microfiber sponges, clean dry rags, squeegee, and ladders.

2. Begin by thoroughly cleaning the frames, sills, and window panes with the solution and microfiber sponges. Scrub all areas, paying special attention to any stubborn stains or spots. Make sure to get into all the corners and crevices of the window frames.

3. Dry the frames, sills, and window panes with clean dry rags. Make sure all surfaces are completely dry and free of any cleaning solution.

4. Next, apply the cleaning solution to the window panes and allow them to soak for a few minutes. This will help to loosen any dirt or grime on the glass.

Steps 5-9

5. Scrub the glass again, using the microfiber sponges. Make sure to use a circular motion and pay extra attention to any areas that still have dirt or grime.

6. Dry the top and left side of the glass with a super dry rag, making a dry line. This will prevent drips and streaks on the glass.

7. Use the squeegee to clean the glass, making sure to use a firm and steady stroke. Start from the top and work your way down, making sure to overlap each stroke and clean the rubber of the squeegee after each pass.

8. Check to see if the glass needs to be scrubbed again or if any tough spots need to be cleaned off using a razor blade.

9. Dry the right side and bottom of the window and frames with a clean dry rag.

Steps 10-13

10. Repeat steps 2-9 for all remaining windows.

11. Once all windows are clean and dry, inspect each window to make sure there are no streaks or missed spots. If necessary, go back and clean any areas that may have been missed.

12. Do a final check and take before and after photos if needed.

13. Lastly, safely move the ladders to the next window, making sure to secure them before climbing.

Note:

We always check and follow safety guidelines when using ladders, especially when cleaning windows that are multiple stories high. Also, when using a razor blade, we handle it with care and be sure to use a blade specifically designed for window cleaning as they are typically plastic and safer to use.

Ladder safety practices

Make sure to set up the ladder on a flat, level surface and secure it in place using stabilizing arms or bumpers. These devices will help to prevent the ladder from slipping or moving while you are on it. Use proper ladder techniques: Always face the ladder when climbing up or down, and use both hands to hold onto the ladder. Do not lean out too far to one side, and maintain three points of contact with the ladder at all times. Wear safety equipment: When working on ladders, it's important to wear slip-resistant shoes. Training and experience: It's important to have proper training and experience when working on ladders. It's not just about knowing how to climb and work on ladder but also recognizing potential hazards and taking appropriate measures.

Before each use, inspect ladders for any signs of damage, wear and tear, and ensure that all locking mechanisms are working properly.

Have a partner or someone around: When working on ladders, it's always a good idea to have a partner or someone nearby in case of an emergency.
